Beers Offers State Solutions to Fed Problem

Like most Nevadans, Bob Beers wants the federal government to secure our borders and enforce existing law. But there are some steps Bob Beers has been advocating Nevada take to help lead Congress in the right direction.

Beers sponsored Senate Bill 325 during the 2007 legislature, which would establish English as Nevada's official language. If you follow all the legislative details, you will see that Beers' proposal was massively watered down in the Senate Government Affairs Committee (Beers serves as the vice-chair) in order to gain the support of the Senate Democrats. And the bill passed the full Senate 19-2.

In the Assembly, however, the chair of that house's Government Affairs Committee refused to schedule it for a vote - effectively killing the proposal without a hearing.

Bob Beers needs to be re-elected so he can push for this law in the next, and subsequent, sessions of the Nevada Legislature.
