Bob Beers for Governor

Want To Help Fred?

January 4th, 2008

I’ve had a number of requests today from people who want to help Fred Thompson be President but they’re not sure what to do.

Let’s try an experiment and see how far we get.

If you want to do something to help the Thompson campaign, email me with your precinct number (you can get your precinct number here) and I will email you back a list of other Republicans in your precinct that you should call and find out if they support Fred. If they do, mark their name on your list. Then, on the Thursday and Friday night before the caucus meeting, call those who support Fred and ask them again to make time to participate on Saturday morning.

My email address is bobbeers@bobbeers.net. Offer good in Clark County only (because I don’t have master voter lists for any other county).

I came here from Iowa Jan 1990, Iowa is a conservative state. Very few farmers get subsidies from the government. I lived near Blue Grass Iowa, at that time farmers were family farmers, I helped my neighbor with his hog farm. I was also a Union Business Agent. So as you can guess us stupid union bosses endorsed the Democrats who listened to their failed promises. Look at minimum wage. Disgusting, the public servants (Congress) take higher increase in wages every year than the total of minimum wage. If you think Fred Thompson is any different than any other canidate running for president, you are nuts. Ron Pual is the only canidate that is different, and if you want to turn this country back to the people, RON PAUL is the only canidate that will attempt to do that. If you don’t, WELL just continue to leave your head in the sand; and VOTE for any one of them. They are one in the same!! You have a chance, TAKE IT!!!

Ron Paul is NUMBER ONE on my list!!! We need a REAL change.
I’ve contributed and will do it again! Fox News Greta Van Susternan said the 10% he got in Iowa is very significant.
Especially since he carried 29% of independent Republicans
and beat Rudy by 7%. New Hampshire is going to blow this primary wide open and Nevada will rock for Ron. AND, he’s got the money from thousands of little guys. Move over Obama,
Ron Paul is the REAL uniter! My family is split 3 Democrats,
3 Republicans. All of us are for Ron Paul! I had lunch with
friends here both Democrats and Republicans, they are all voting for Ron Paul. LOOK OUT AMERICA, WE’RE HAVING A RON PAUL REVOLUTION!!!

    Ron Paul Supporters:
What is all this enthusiasm about Ron Paul?
While I feel I am in many ways a Libertarian, with minimal room for the federal government in my private live, there are severe shortcomings in this world view and foreign policy in Ron Paul’s candidacy.
Like it or not, we can no longer return to the political isolation this nation was initially practicing.
We are the most powerful and wealthiest nation and can not escape from the responsibilities that brings with it.
All you Ron Paul enthusiasts (and I surmise your enthusiasm for Dr. Paul stems a lot from his promise to leave Iraq asap), do me a favor.
Compare the benefits of the successful WWII and the Cold War struggle with the misery created by the abandonment of the Vietnam war, Then multiply the Vietnam misery by ten to get to the result of a victory by radical Islamism an immediate withdrawal from Iraq will foster.
I like Ron Paul’s domestic policy, but his foreign politics will lead to world wide disaster.

I am convinced that any major candidate with millions of dollars to spend on advertising is simply a toady for the ones who finance their campaigns. If Ron Paul ran as an independent, I would look at him more favorably. Otherwise, he is just catering to the party heirarchy and his donors. We are trained to vote for the candidate with the most expensive lipstick on their face. None offer solutions to anything. All work with soundbites and petty advertising gimmicks (including the favorite of casting petty mud at their opponents). Please guide me to a reference where a candidate offers a sound solution to an identified problem instead of simply identifying something “bad” and offering “something must be done”. I know you cannot, because any candidate doing this would not stand a chance with our unsophisticated voting base. Sorry, but that is what the election process has degenerated to. Give me an independent anyday….anyone with guts enough to go it alone would have the guts it takes to save our country. Anyone under the shield of restrictive major party heels is simply trying to get a job and does not care about long-term solutions (let long-term good for the citizens). Notice that our national spending has increased, as has our national debt (worse if you include promises for the future) with every administration since the depression, whether they were “democratic” or “republican”. You really have to examine the wisdom of a citizenry who continues to see a poor result, but continues to employ the same solutions. Go ahead, admit it you will vote for the “lesser of two evils”. It is sad that we have been relegated to settling for evils as our leaders. The results are predictable.

  5. Eric's Grandma Says:

Maybe it might be worth Steve’s time to check out Ron Paul’s voting record - you’ll be amazed just how many times he’s stood alone.
Also, I don’t vote for the ‘lesser of two evils’. There are too many places to go for accurate facts about our elected officials. Instead of lumping them all together as someone that is ‘catering to the party heirarchy and his donors’.

  6. Paul Says:

I am surprised that I am not alone in liking Ron Paul. I am not a anti-war person. I am a veteran. I don’t think we should just pull out from all over the world, but I like everything else he has to say. Obviously, we all like Bob Beers (even if he isn’t the senator that represents us) and I will trust his judgement about Fred if Ron Paul is not a viable candidate. My hope is that Ron Paul makes the cut in my precinct, so we can show others that there is someone who truly believes in the Constitution that so many of us swore to uphold and defend.

  7. Al Hill Says:

I’m a strong supporter of Bob Beers even though I don’t live in his district.

That said, I find it interesting that so many responders to his call for Fred supporters actually prefer Ron Paul. I too find that Ron Paul is the only standout in a field of pandering, self-serving candidates. The focus of so many Democrats and Republicans is “Who can win?” with no thought for principles. Ron Paul’s principles are backed by his congressional record, and he hasn’t offered to compromise those principles for personal or political gain.

  8. Doug Says:

Two words: RON PAUL - the only true Republican.

  9. Doug Says:

So Bob, if we send you our precinct #, will you give us the number of other republicans in our districts to go endorse Ron Paul? :-)

  10. Helen Weils Says:

I’m a Ron Paul supporter because of his stances on the IRS
(eliminate it), the Federal Reserve (eliminate it) stop giving trillions of dollars to other countries. I am FOR the
Iraq war but I am for pulling our troops out of 135 countries
around the world and bringing them back to the US to defend our borders. As far as the terrorists go, I’d nuke em if I had the chance. I’m sick of our country going to war for peace keeping missions. I want to see an end to the UN a communist organization in my opinion. I just don’t see any
other candidate who will change in the way I see Ron Paul will make changes.

  11. Doug Says:

    Helen,

I’m pro-choice, but even with that, I still endorse Paul. (if we agree 70% of the time, then we still agree!)

No other candidate on either side has indicated they will change anything relevant. All the candidates are talking about Economy and Iraq and Imigration, blah blah blah - none mention the restoration of the constitution except Paul - and without restoring the consitution, those other issues don’t mean SQUAT.

I don’t really see how you could support Iraq with your other positions. Iraq is a disaster that we will probably never recover from since we’ve now destabilized the entire region. Where is all the oil money anyway that was supposed to pay for this goat rope? Bush should hang for treason on that one among other things.

I’m just shocked at how suppressed he is in the media when every single person I know supports him.

We know Saddam has WMDs because we have the receipt (LOL)

  12. AMN Says:

It’s time RON PAUL supporters to get behind Fred Thompson. For he is the only other candidate for small government and lets face it Paul will not get the nod!

GET BEHIND FRED THOMPSON..PUAL SUPPORTERS..IF YOU WANT TO KEEP A BIG GOVERNMENT CANDIDATE HUCKABEE, GIULIANI, MCCAIN OR ROMNEY FROM THE WHITE HOUSE. LETS GET A RALLY TOGETHER IN LAS VEGAS BEFORE OUR CAUCUS FOR FRED THOMPSON!

  13. Ernie Says:

Per the comment from Doug, I find it absolutely comical that people still have the ignorance to say that one Presidents administration “de-stabilized” a region (the Middle East), that has never seen a period of stabilization in the entire written history of man. This is a region that has consistently experienced 2 things throughout its history. War and or the conquest by a foreign power or a power from within the region.

I truly believe that the Middle East region will never become stable, and because of this belief, I cannot support a candidate that sounds like an isolationist (Ron Paul). Whether any of you like it or not, the truth is, we are the only superpower left. This is what comes with the territory. There are soldiers out there that still believe it is important to fight and die for other people’s right to have the same voice that we have here. Maybe you don’t know these soldiers, but I know alot of them. I firmly believe Mr. Paul’s foreign views aren’t good for this country, or our greatest ally in the region, that being Israel.

As for your comment Doug about Ron Paul being the only true Republican, let me just say that Ronald Reagan was a true Republican, and Mr. Paul is no Ronald Reagan.
