Fred Thompson Wins SC Debate
January 11th, 2008Nationally respected GOP pollster Frank Lutz ran a focus group for Fox News during last night’s debate, and it was nearly unanimous: Fred Thompson won.
Here’s video of the focus group on Fox, and here’s an endorsement of Fred from the great weekly conservative newsletter “Human Events” - a favorite read of Ronald Reagan.
Several people said Fred won the debate, but it was too late in the process for them to change their mind. One thought Fred won, but because she hadn’t heard much about him in the past, she was concerned that he is not consistently good.
I think it has much more to do with media gatekeepers not giving Fred consistent coverage, not a lack of consistency on Fred’s part.

Where has THIS Fred been for the past 4 months? He sounded great and I agree that he really shined last night.
Off topic, but a question on SB301, and the $5m to “pay off” Pioneers Company. Would you take a look at pages 27 and 28 of their 2006 Annual Report, “Changes in Fair Value of Derivatives” and subnote (1), and voice you opinion whether the funding purpose of SB301 and the liabilities outlined in the Pioneers Annual Report are consistent?

Too, you wanted to annul the annual raise provision for the Director of the Colorado River Commission, was this ever accomplished?

Wha? An actor as president? Who ever heard of such a thing?

Until Goldman Sachs and the other king makers start showering Fred with millions in campaign donations like they have the front runners, all his performances and conservative appeal will be in vain. Make no mistake, the only candidate that will survive is the one with the support of BIG money. Ron Paul’s destruction by FOX is a perfect example of clearing out a good candidate that doesn’t have the BIG money folks behind them. It’s the American Way.

Bob,
Frunk Luntz is only respected by his employers and that is because he succeeds in achieving the polling results that they ask for. He does this by hand-picking a very small group of paid people and carefully edits their responses. As a genuine pollster Luntz is a fraud. The twenty or so paid employees of NewsCorp, were for the most part, not South Carolina residents and Frank’s assertion did not match the text messaging votes for the debate. The text votes were a far larger sample and not pre-selected by FOX News. Ron Paul won the text message vote (as he has all other debate polls) by a landslide. Fred Thompson placed a distant second.
Here are some links that you and your readers can investigate that support the facts that I have mentioned above:
