The Key To Happiness

March 21st, 2008

I’ve come to believe that people helping people is a much more effective way to cure our society’s ills than people taxing people, creating large inefficient bureaucracies, then using what’s left to pay people to help people.

Now comes a study that says people who give are happier.

Need somebody to give to? I talked to some Habitat For Humanity people yesterday. Check ‘em out.

    Bob,
Good summary of one of the main issues. “Large inefficient bureaucracies.” Dept of Education, Dept of Agriculture, Dept of Homeland Security, BATFE, Dept of Energy. That’s probably hundreds of billions of dollars with no return whatsoever.

Yes, “people who give are happier”, but after all local, state, and federal taxes plus a reasonable lifestyle, there isn’t a lot left over for giving.

The FEMA fiasco is just the tip of the iceburg. And it’s still going on!

This concept is so obvious that you would think a society that prides itself on being “Christain” would instinctively see it. But we don’t. We are tied to money. This enables our handlers to control us. Everyone should think what would happen if money were useless and Government checks all bounced. If this is too terrible to imagine, we are all in dire straits because it is just around the corner. Both individually and as a Government, we have spent and borrowed everything we can.

In this instance, you must consider what is really valuable. In my mind, there are two things:

What knowledge you have in your mind that is useful to others, and

The network of people you have developed through your good works.

This is the most important reason that it is a blessing to give. Yes, it makes you feel good and it helps keep our society together. But, most importantly, it sets you up to be wealthy in what really matters after money is gone.

Free from money is truly free, but not if you are addicted to free money. Just something to think about. Anyone who is a true Christain will get this. If you do not get it, you may want to do some more reading. It may be especially scary to people who listen to some of our “leaders” who advocate the Government free ride. If you are on this ride, beware. Your “leaders” may actually be your “masters”.

    Bob,

Great topic. People who give live longer too. Imagine that.

    Best,
    Rich
