Higher Ed VP Demonstrates Budget Fat
December 6th, 2007A community college executive wasted taxpayer time and resources sending this out to all staff today:
Dear Colleagues:
Our governor’s proposed budget cuts loom as our semester draws to a close. While the specific areas affected by the reductions are not currently known, there is a sense of urgency for the CSN community to make it clear to the governor that the proposed cuts—which will surely require a hiring freeze and significant programmatic and service-level cutbacks—will deny students access, reduce program effectiveness, and threaten overall quality for our college.
We are urging faculty and staff to make their personal feelings known by contacting the governor’s office:
Grant Sawyer State Office Building 555 East Washington, Suite 5100 Las Vegas, NV 89101 (702) 486-2500 Fax: (702) 486-2505 http://gov.state.nv.us/Contact_Us_SOUTHX.htm
In addition, please look through the attached Academic Affairs’ December Newsletter at your leisure; we hope you’ll find it informative and interesting. If you are aware of folks not on the “all” list, please send (or print) them a copy of this missive.
Best to all,
Carlos

Is this a lawful use of State property? Haven’t we impeached a State worker for this politicalzation of time and resources?

I know this guy is not a state legislator. I still think this demonstrates why executive branch employees and officers should not be allowed to be part of the state legislature.
This shows that are not able to separate their duty to their department from their duty to the state.

Did this Ph.d ever take an economics course or doesn’t he just not understand the necessity for a budget and the need to live within it?

This is a blatent effort to scare people to action. It is immoral and unprofessional. Toadies scaring toadies and using our money to do it. We have to get control of our Government back. Obviously, our current leadership is too cowardly to do the right thing. I think firing adminstrators such as this is too good for them.
